My mom told me her story that really got me thinking about the power of words. My mom says the word "Temesgen" many times a day every single day since the time of her youth. Which means "Thank You God" in Amharic.
When she finished doing some task she says Temesgen. When she finished cooking she says Temesgen. When she finish cleaning the house she says Temesgen. When she finish eating her lunch with her friend she says Temesgen. When she got her paycheck she says Temesgen. You get where I am going.
When she was
in her late twenties she met an amazing man that is loving, kind, caring, that
loves his family very much. She met my father. And they got married and they
made two amazing children. Me and my Sister.
The man that
she met, my father, believe it or not his name is, wait for it..., Temesgen
Yimer.
Starting from
the day she told me this story i always kept track of the words coming out of
my mouth. I always try to speak out positive words and be positive. Because I
know and more importantly I've seen the power of words working in my own
mother's life.
My mother's
friend used to say to my mother "You always said the word 'Temesgen' and
you got married to a man named Temesgen.
I DON'T THINK
THAT IS A COINCIDENCE".
